About Me
LSAMP Fellow
Through my experience in the Louis Stokes Association for Minority Participation (LSAMP) through June 2024-April 2025, I got to run my own independent research projects in the field of Entomology and Microbiology, focusing on the interactions between gut microbes and chewing insects and their potential to help degrade plant toxins in the food the insects eat.
Additionally I attended many workshops focusing on skills such as professional & business etiquitte, poster presentation skills & time management.
I presented my various research projects through the LSAMP fellowship, and these presentations can be seen in my "Research & Projects" page!
McNair Scholar
As of April 2025, I am currently a McNair Scholar through the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program! This summer (Summer 2025) I will be participating in workshops that will prepare me for graduate school, travel to other universities to present my research, and lead an independent research project focusing on chewing insects gut microbes ability to break down the plant toxin Phenethyl Isothiocyanate in vivo.
Looking Forward
After the completion of my Biology undergraduate degree at UTA (estimated completion date Dec 2025), I intend to pursue a PHD program in the Fall of 2026, hopefully pursing research in Entomology. In the time between my undergraduate and graduate degree, I hope to work in an entomological or ecological field.
