Spring 2025: Methods to Encourage Grant Writing in the English Department of UTA

In the research project I conducted as an English intern in the Spring of 2025 at UTA, I interviewed 7 different UTA faculty members who had recent grant writing experience about the process at UTA, including the types of projects funded, where funding was secured, what they thought made a proposal successful, and what UTA was doing or could be doing better to support grant writing within the English department.
Through these interviews, the data collected was used to create infographics. These infographics will be used for:
> providing information on grant writing support resources faculty have found helpful
> listing proven successful tips on how to make a successful proposal
> showing what grant funding could be used for and has been used for by faculty previously
These infographics can be for those who are less practiced in grant writing to utilize, or even those who are looking for inspiration for their next project!

As well as the infographics, the data collected from interviews, as well as additional research, was used to create a calendar of grant opportunities that are relevant to the English department. These opportunities are organized by who can apply or them, whether they've been won before in the department, by keywords that the funding opportunity is looking for, as well as other parameters to make going through the opportunities easy and streamlined for faculty.

Additionally, Previously written proposals were collected from willing interviewee's to create the first proposal database for the English department. These proposals can serve as guiding examples for those applying to the same opportunity it was submitted to, or even as examples for those who have not written a grant before or not in a long time.
